BS Valentine's Day
02.14.07 (9:07 pm)   [edit]

Why the F*%k do we celebrate Valentine's Day? People make such a big deal out of this day. It's not even funny. A bunch of people from my job left early to prepare for their Valentine's Day plans. I jokingly told some people that today was a conspiracy involving the government, Hallmark, and Russel Stover. I'm sure I could google Saint Valentine and look up the history of this day but I really don't care. I'd rather talk about all the extra things people do on the 14th of February.

Why is it that the guy is supposed to do all the work? He better buy flowers. He better have an amazing dinner planned. You get where I'm going with this. I actually don't know where I'm going with this. To sum this up, people put too much emphasis on not screwing this day up. Enjoy your spouse (or your hands/toys) as many days of the year as you can and laugh at the people who stress over a perfect Valentine's Day.

Wait a minute, I remember something else I wanted to say. Why do people send you Valentine's Day text messages when they don't normally call you? One person sent me one of these "special" messages and I haven't talked to them since November of '06. Nice to see you too. I could probably go on forever with this rant but I'll stop now. Have a great February 15th - 28th!!!

Hi Ricky, hope everything is well in your part of the world, I think you're right concerning Valentine's Day which is a supplementary event created in this consumer society to make money (as unfortunately everything else!), if you are intelligent, live your life by listening to your inner guide, you think by yourself (also choose by yourself)and don't adhere to this kind of bullshit. To love somebody is free and daily, don't need to celebrate that once in the year according to a calendar which defines this date because so acting, you become a sheep, perfect consumer without brain and reflection, simply.
Love is free!
See ya Ricky,
all the best on your path!

ricky,

who mixed your valentine's day cocktail with all that haterade? for couples, it's supposed to be a day of celebrating your feelings for the other person, just as st. valentine did. better get your ass to google and learn some shit.

for single people, it should be about getting as much stank on your hang down as possible... and you know this.

all you bitter ass, 'cupid-rhymes-with-stupid', valentine's day haters better just go back to your jahova's witness meetings and stop celebrating every holiday, because in actuality, they're all made up. except festivus, that shit's real. hatehatehatehatehate....

There's no haterade in my cocktail. I'm not bitter at all. I think next year Trojan should run a big ad campaign to join in this consumer driven day... "Don't get VD on VD. Wear a Trojan condom."

Hi Bvizzle,
don't you think you are your own free will in life?!...
For example: sometimes when you are watching TV, do you have this reflection: that’s enough, it’s too bad,
I refuse to stay sitting here, watchin’ what they feed to me, yes, my brain’s thinking, I am not a puppet then I switch off my TV screen!
It's the same with Valentine's Day, know that many people worldwide don't need to be "guided" by this kind of things, it's my point of view too but feel free to live your life according to your own feeling and understanding. Millions of people on Earth don't wish to feed this kind of event created above all to make money, don't be blind! Another example: in the USA, millions of people voted for Bush twice, did you see the result? A disaster. I ask you this question: is it better to be a sheep without reflection or it is better to think by yourself to make your own choices? Love is free, don't need a Valentine's day once in a year to live it everyday.
Be yourself! ;-)

Peace,
jc

PS: I live in Europe.

Thanks for putting an entry out there that is anti-Valentines. I totally agree with you. Valentine's Day is a inane, silly date. And I resent getting cards etc. from acquaintances - why would they send me (and/or my family) a Valentine's card?

I just don't understand why people need a day to tell someone they love them. Shouldn't that be a given? And shouldn't it be every day?

Ah well, just my two cents...
