Now I know what it feels like to get pepper sprayed. Yesterday, I had the misfortune of experiencing this by accident. After work and some errands, I had about 20 to 30 minutes to do prep work for dinner, cook, eat, change clothes, and then leave in time to make it to rugby practice. Part of this prep work involved mincing a jalepeño. You can see where this is going already. Well, I made dinner and inhaled it quickly. On my way to change, I made a pit stop to relieve the pressure on the ol' bladder when I spotted some eye goop. Without thinking, I just wiped it away and went on about my business. A short time later, I feel this burning sensation in the inner corner of my right eye. That's right. I got some jalepeño in my eye. This shiz is no joke. I thought eye drops would do the trick so I rushed to the bathroom to put some in and there's no warning sign that says, "If your eye is burning, this will only make it worse". So now that the heat is intensified, I resort to the water in the eye. That helped a little but didn't do much. I still had my vision so I could drive to practice and hope that it wore off. Since this was such a funny/painful story, I had to call someone to share. I called my mom and started the conversation off with, "Now I know what it feels like to be pepper sprayed." I think she almost had a heart attack. Instead of listening to the rest of the story, she immediately thought that I had been arrested for something. Thanks a lot mom. You know I'm the good child.
