12.28.03 (2:13 am)   [edit]
Well today was quite an experience. First of all, I got up at 8am on my vacation. That is highly uncalled for. I went snowboarding with Jimmie at Mountain High Ski Resort in CA. It was the first time I've been since high school. Some of the slopes got too icy as the day went on so that led to some falls. My butt hurts and my knees hurt. Leave your jokes at the door :x . Those punk bitches charged me $30 to rent a snowboard that I only used for like 4 to 5 hours. Oh well, it was all good. Afterwards we made our way to the World Famous "Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles" in L.A. What did I have? Chicken and waffles of course. It was all it was hyped up to be.

A funny story that is one of those "you had to be there" stories. We got tired on the way home so I fell asleep and soon after I fell asleep, Jimmie pulled off the freeway and went to sleep too with the hazard lights on. Some time later the highway patrol rolled up and woke me up by knocking on the window. I tried to wake Jimmie by calling him and eventually with a loud yell and an elbow to the side I woke him up and he frantically slammed on the gas (thinking it was the brake). Luckily he was in neutral and we didn't go anywhere. After a brief convo with the patrolman, we were wide awake and continued our journey. "You had to be there!!!"

skating rink
12.22.03 (2:29 pm)   [edit]
If you haven't been to a skating rink you're missing out. Yesterday, after church, I went with my sisters and brother to some kid's birthday party who went to the church. I haven't been to the skating rink in over 10 years. It wasn't the ice skating rink. This was old school. They had the old skates with 2 in the front and 2 in the back. They also had some inline skates. I opted for the inline skates since that's what I'm used to. There was plenty of laughs and falls. I'm proud to say that I never fell, no matter what stupid stuff I did. Happy Birthday kid!! I can't remember his name but his party got me in the place for free and I got free skate rental.

plane delays
12.22.03 (2:23 pm)   [edit]
I don't know about the rest of you guys that flew home, but it seemed like every flight was delayed. I got home 3 hours later than I was supposed to. I got into San Diego's airport at 2am. At least at 11pm I could do something that Friday night. I guess I'm not that lucky. Oh well, the weather is nice and I don't have to go around everywhere with a big winter jacket. Hopefully I can get back to school at the time I'm supposed to without huge delays.

California Love
12.19.03 (1:48 pm)   [edit]
I'm finally going back home to Cali. It's the only time I get to go home all school year. I'm sure gonna enjoy my 70 degree weather. The snow is very inviting, but I like wearing shorts. It'll be a nice break from school for everyone. Hopefully some of the freshman can finally stop acting like they're in high school and enjoy college when they get back. I hope the same for some of the upperclassmen also. Good luck to the men's basketball team over break. Women's team too. It's gonna suck being here without all the students. Oh well, I'll have fun for ya. Take care everybody. I'm out...

random b.s.
12.18.03 (12:37 pm)   [edit]
Only one more day of class and we get to break out this bitch. Sorry to Addy for not helping him get rid of boredom by scrolling through my blog. I'll try to stay on the ball. I might as well do something with my procrastination time. For those inquiring minds, I was in a nice shirt and tie for class. Maybe I should dress up more often. I think a couple of girls were ready to have my kids :P . Don't you love it when that happens.

TV gone bad
12.17.03 (9:30 pm)   [edit]
I don't know what I missed but when did a sports channel go retarded? I turned to ESPN today and saw Scrabble. What the hell does Scrabble have to do with touchdowns, homeruns, hat tricks, or any other thing that goes with REAL sports. When someone could page me on the two-way that I don't have and let me know when Scrabble got put into the sports category, I'll stop bitching.

trash talkin
12.16.03 (9:05 pm)   [edit]
So our girls basketball team lost by 20 points tonight. Hey, you win some and you lose some. I guess it just wasn't their night. The question at hand is, when are you supposed to stop talkin trash? The group of loud guys to the right of the gym was us. So what we were losing bad. 75% of college sports is trash talk. It's even better when the opposing fans run out of clever stuff to say. That was the case tonight. Some jackass with a horrible long sleeve button-up flannel shirt was saying some dumb stuff halfway through the second half. I would like to encourage you to practice at any time during the day. Whether it be a elementary spelling bee or when your neighbor gets his cd player stolen because he left the doors unlocked. It is an art that needs to be mastered if you plan on doing it right. So turn to the person nearest you and talk some shit today.

procrastination
12.15.03 (8:53 am)   [edit]
Procrastination is a really bad habit. Although I enjoy it very much, it doesn't really work out when you need sleep. I was given the assignment for a paper around Tuesday of last week and I just finished it about 50 minutes ago. I think the paper is good quality but I'm so freakin tired. I tried taking 25 minute naps from around 3am to 7am. Each time I'd tell myself that I'd get up and finish the paper. Oh well. It's done and now I have to stay awake for a 2 hour class.

last week of class
12.14.03 (3:53 pm)   [edit]
The end of first semester is almost here. For all you non-Cornell people, I hope you're enjoying the multiple finals and papers that you will be doing. We only have one class and one final. My plane gets in San Diego around 11pm Pacific Coast time this Friday. Jimmie and James better have something lined up. You know what time it is. The question of the week is: Should I get up every weekday at 5am to make $500 over break or should I sleep in and earn nothing? Let me know what you think!!

Sledding
12.10.03 (2:42 pm)   [edit]
It finally got enough snow to go sledding. Dustin, Bridgette, and I built a nice steep ramp to go down outside of Olin. Thanks to the Grounds & Maintenance guys for helping with moving snow around. I don't recommend going down with a bucket of water in your hand (Don't ask). I think we might be in the school newspaper. Derek from the Cornellian took a picture of us. I guess you'll have to stay tuned.

Basketball team wins
12.08.03 (9:09 pm)   [edit]
The basketball team finally won their first game of the season. Congrats fellas. It was a close one in the end but they were due. I've seen them and I know they feel a lot better about going to practice and listening to Coach Timm. I don't want to take all the credit, but since I did a drill where I got to run over the team as they practiced taking charges, there's been at least 10 charges taken by them in the last two games combined. I am the self-proclaimed "Special Teams Coach."

Iowa weather
12.08.03 (12:40 pm)   [edit]
It's starting to heat up again and the snow is melting. Why can't Iowa make up its mind when it comes to weather. I got to wear shorts today and my professor thought I was crazy and tried to remind me that I wasn't in California anymore. I wore a jacket to balance it out. Does that count? I'm sure the weather will change and it will be freezing again in a couple of days. Might as well take advantage while you can.

Drunk Townies
12.06.03 (11:44 am)   [edit]
I'm sure most of you college kids have had your fair share of run ins with the local townies at the bars. Some of them may be old and cool. Some of them may be young and horny. Some of them are usually full of attitude. Can't we all just drink in peace and laugh together as some 18 year old gets caught by the police for the 2nd time in one semester. Last night some dumbass hit a girl and was extremely lucky that nobody really knew who did it. Look out for your friends. I don't promote violence  ... but sometimes a good ass whoopin will fix things up real quick.

Snow
12.05.03 (2:22 pm)   [edit]
It snowed all night last night. Some people think its just getting in the way. I've always thought if it's gonna be freezing cold, we might as well have some snow to play in. Since I come from a beach city in California, I have to drive a numerous hours to get to the Mountains for snow. Yeah, that doesn't happen very often. Shout out to all those who make Big Bear, CA their choice for snowboarding. [url=http://people.cornellcollege....]Marc[/url] and [url=http://people.cornellcollege....]Alex[/url] know what I'm talking about. I hope you two enjoy 4th block off while getting to be home in Cali. If you're down with big snow jumps while sledding behind Pfieffer Hall, you're cool with me.

Gwen's in Lisbon, IA
12.05.03 (2:20 pm)   [edit]
I got the pleasure of not eating Sodexho food today and having lunch with the Student Leaders at Gwen's. I've never been to this place but the food was good. This place definitely looks like the hometown place to go to get your money's worth. The meal was highlighted by me finding an onion ring in the shape of the greek letter "Theta." My friend Andrea (who happens to be the Social Chair for the [url=http://www.cornellcollege.edu...]Kappa Theta [/url] social group) quickly snagged it for "show and tell" to her fellow sisters. [url=http://belog.blogs.com/]Liz[/url] had the bright idea of lacquering it for proper preservation. I hope that idea was put to bed. I guess we'll see.

Dressing up and looking nice
12.05.03 (2:19 pm)   [edit]
Okay, so I'm the manager for the [url=http://www.cornellcollege.edu...]men's basketball team [/url] at Cornell. I get paid for that by the way. One of the things that I have to do is dress nice for games because I have to look presentable and all that good stuff. Why do people constantly ask why I'm "all dressed up"? I think it was the great "All Conference Kim" that said, "Damn Ricky, you lookin' sexy!" I respond better to those type of statements.
